I have used Tri-Tronics dog training collars in the past for many years. When I heard they had a ViceBreaker collar for use on horses, I expected the same effectiveness, quality and ease of use I had come to expect. I was not disappointed!!! I love the varying degrees of stimulation so you can use it as a gentle reminder as opposed to a punishment. Works great for horses that paw or dig as well as cribbing.

 Greetings:

I wanted to write and tell you that the leather collar you sent is now gathering dust on the shelf. The reason that we aren't using it now is because it worked immediately the first time we used it.

We have an excellent 10-year old mare we use for cutting. She has had excellent training and is a sweet, soft-eyed, and raring-to-go-cut horse. When we bought her, we were told that she might have a problem being hauled in the trailer but she would settle down with kick-chains.

Well, we used kick chains, hobbles, yelling, and pleading and she would still kick like the hooey at 1 mile an hour or 50 miles an hour. It just wasn't working and I didn't want to haul a horse any distance that was kicking, rocking, and whinnying. Frankly, I thought she was just being ornery and knew she could get away with it. By the time we'd get back from just a testing trip, she'd have a sweat on like she had run a hundred miles.

We then bought your collar and after reading the instructions and after testing the different levels in the palm of my hand, I gently put it on her. She loaded just fine like always. But the moment the trailer started to move, she began her routine. While pulling the trailer very slowly around in a large circle, I pressed the button on a low level and things got very quiet back there. We did some more slow circles and she started up once more. I again pressed the button and things went quiet. This was while I was sitting in the cab of the pickup.

I stopped and gently unloaded her. No yelling, cursing, or poking. No sweat on her body.

We let a few days go by and then we loaded her up again and with the collar on as a reminder. We left and got on the road and went hither and yon and there wasn't a peep out of her at anytime. We came back and she was as dry as could be. During the trip, she didn't kick, whinny, rock the trailer, or anything. And I never pressed the button.

So, now your collar sits on the shelf gathering dust but it is ready for any future episodes. It really was a very gentle and simple method of providing correction to a bad behavior trait.

I don't write to businesses when things work like they're supposed to. But this time, I wanted to let you know that your product did just as advertised and cured a really bad habit that could have dramatically limited her and our ability to travel.

Good job and thanks again,

The ViceBreaker has been a real blessing to me. Even though I live on 3 acres, I have close neighbors on all sides and my donkey, Mister Jake, has an earth-shattering bray. Before the ViceBreaker, he would bray at all hours of the night and very early in the mornings. Since the noise bothered us I knew it was bothering my neighbors who were being very patient.

I tried to find ways to discourage the braying and everyone said to ignore it and not to take treats out when he brayed. That did not work as the braying got worse. The ADMS suggested finding a vet who would cut the vocal cords like is done with barking dogs. My vet was not familiar with the procedure and I was at a dead end.

Then I saw your ad in the Mules and More magazine and called and talked with you. Short of getting rid of the donkey that is a very special harness donkey, I decided to give the ViceBreaker a chance. I had to put it on level #5, as the lower levels did not discourage him, but #5 did. After only a few tries, Jake gave up and is now not only quiet at night but also his braying during the day is very limited. I deduce from this that his braying had been a habit.

Thank you so much for your wonderful device and you are welcome to use my name as reference. I am also writing the ADMS to let other frustrated donkey owners know that there is a resolution to the braying problem short of getting rid of their long-eared friends.

Cool Tool. While eating lunch I cured pawing at the trailer. Left a can of oats just out of reach and found that level 3 was the mild irritant that the doctor ordered. Grabbing a bite on the trail is my pet peeve.

So your 'bee' visited each bite, administering justice and giving deep satisfaction simultaneously.

Thanks! I now carry my halter in full sight, administering a bump at the first sign of evasiveness, and my mule now catches good.

Thanks! Thank the guys for designing such an indispensable tool. Every tack room should have one.

The ViceBreaker has become an essential tool in my training practice. I train horses using classical methods. I do not use gimmicks, restraints, or harsh methods in my training. There is no need. Classical methods address training of a horse under saddle without the need for such doodads. The principles of effective training have been established over centuries. Interactions between horse and trailer, fence, stall, and other horses have not. Remote correction is the only training method that I have found effective in these cases. I have a horse that had a habit of kicking the horse trailer when tied to the outside of the trailer. This horse has injured herself several times at shows when left tied, while her trailer-mates were in the warm-up or competition. With the help of ViceBreaker, this horse has learned to stand quietly at the trailer. A professional trainer has many obstacles on the path to getting horses to peak performance. I have available many aids that were not available to the old masters. Heated automatic waters, electric fences, video and ViceBreaker.

Being professional trainers, sometimes we will receive older stallions in training, and through mismanagement these horses will have learned behavior, dangerous not only to their handlers but themselves and other horses as well. We have found that not only can the ViceBreaker modify this behavior but correct it as well. We also feel the ViceBreaker is much safer, humane and a better training aid than the traditional methods of handling a rank stallion. Thanks ViceBreaker!

Santa was the one that introduced me to the ViceBreaker. Some friends up the creek gave me one for Christmas-Mike and Jan Miller.

I first was thinking of it as some kind of toy, but now I find it the best invention since canned beer. And it doesn't take 10 years of college to use it. It takes plain old common sense. Timing is very important. I've stopped and solved a lot of different problems with it. I stopped an 1800 lb. gelding from eating 3-year old colts. To this day, he doesn't know which colt nailed him. He walks around with his ears up and a smile on his face.

I've used it on other people's horses and it will help stop bad habits for anyone. I get a lot of horses in that are spoiled and have bad habits. The VB is the most humane way of getting ride of bad habits that I've come across so far. Thanks for your help and support.

It is my belief that any organization that runs on the premise of care for the customer cannot help but succeed. You are part of a rare breed in today’s world.

Dear ViceBreaker, Thank you, for your product. For years it has been very difficult to stop vices in young horses. We now can stop bad habits before they get out of hand. We have stopped things like blanket chewing, aggressive behavior, wood chewing, pawing, and teaching horses to be caught. The great thing about your product is the animal doesn’t relate the punishment to the human. I would recommend this product to anyone who has horses with problem vices. As with any correctional tool I advocate that common sense be used. The product will work without overuse. Thank you again for this amazing product, we will be using it for years to come.

As an International Competition Carriage Driving Trainer and Competitor, having successfully competed at World Class Championship levels, I have successfully used ViceBreaker for the past three years. These days it seems there’s a new trendy guru around every corner, but in truth there are three basic rules in the training of any horse. Obedience – Discipline – Submission ViceBreaker helps to achieve all three with the least amount of trauma and stress.

Enclosed please find the original ViceBreaker unit as reviewed in our Horse Journal. As you can see, we have put it to good use because of the noticeable difference it has made with the horses we work with who have habits we would rather do without. We really appreciate your sending us a replacement and we will continue to recommend the use of your product because of the success we have had and hope to have in the future. Best of luck to you.

Bless you for inventing ViceBreaker! As a professional horse trainer, I find its use to be effective, humane and lasting. Originally purchased for a chronic cribber, it solved that horse’s problem within a short period of time. Horses that dig, walk the fence and act aggressive have all worn the ViceBreaker and usually only once or twice before their behavior has CHANGED. It is a pleasure to have well mannered horsed, who had previously been “problem children” in the barn. I will never be without this product as long as I operate a training facility!

To Whom It May Concern, I have used the ViceBreaker on a variety of animals in several different situations. We have had wonderful success with the ViceBreaker stopping horses from wood chewing. The ViceBreaker is great for keeping your dog behind the cattle, stopping him from chasing birds or asking him to come to you. It works great for teaching horses that are hard to catch. This same principle keeps your horse from leaving you when you get off to push the cattle in the chute or retrieve your rope or hat…I just wanted to say thanks to the makers of ViceBreaker. You have helped the level of communication between my animals and myself to greatly improve.

Hello—I bought one of your ViceBreakers some time ago. I am just now getting around to telling you what I think of it. One of my boys and I each have quite a few horses and mules and we have had plenty of time to use it. We think it is GREAT!! I loaned it to a friend and he will be ordering one soon. Keep up the good work!

I have used the ViceBreaker for a year now and find it to be one of the best training tools that we have. We can break bad habits in one third of the time that it has taken us in the past with other methods. I would highly recommend this product for everyone who is looking for a safe and effective way to help train their horse.

To Whom It May Concern, I purchased a ViceBreaker a couple years ago. I train workhorses; some I raise from colts, others, people bring to me. Some of them are older horses and these are big animals, from 1500 – 2000 lbs so I was somewhat apprehensive as to what effect it would have on animals of this size, but my doubts were soon abolished. I can tell anyone that it works! It doesn’t matter if its saddle stock, ponies, or drafters, a yearling filly or an aged draft stallion that weighs a ton and has developed some unruly habits over the years, the ViceBreaker WORKS! I don’t use it very often, you don’t need to. I would recommend the ViceBreaker to everyone who has horses.
